OUR CONGREGATION’S BOARDS
Our congregation is “congregationally governed” with all major decisions being made by members of the congregation ( not from some hierarchy outside) and an annual election is held which determines the makeup for various decision making and serving boards. The General Board consists of the officers of the congregation, elders, deacons, trustees, the minister, staff members, commission mangers, a representative of each of the major constituency groups of men, women, and youth, and such other persons who may from time to time be appointed by the Moderator with the approval of the General Board. The General Board is responsible to the congregation and has the authority to act on behalf of the congregation when it is not in a congregational meeting. The General Board receives reports from the minister, staff members, officers and various organizations within the congregation. It establishes the program and budget of the congregation, subject to the action by the congregation at its annual meeting.
The Executive Board
consists of the moderator, vice-moderator, secretary, financial secretary, treasurer, the minister, staff members, commission chairs, Elder and Deacon chairpersons, and the chair of the Trustees. The Executive Board meets monthly when the General Board is not in session. The Executive Board has the same basic authority as the General Board, delegated from the congregation, except that the General Board has the power of review, affirmation, or reversal of all decisions of the Executive Board.
